About EP Info

EP Info exists because most Australian consumer information on online casino regulation is written to sell something. We are not selling anything. Our editorial output is question-and-answer format, plain English, no affiliate arrangements.

What EP Info is

EP Info is an independent Australian research portal covering the intersection of federal gambling regulation, offshore casino licensing and consumer information. The site is structured as a Q&A hub because that is how the questions actually arrive — a reader has a specific question, they want a specific answer, and they want the answer without a page of scene-setting.

The editorial line is straightforward. We describe how the regulatory framework works, explain what applies to whom, and separate operator-side rules from player-side consequences. We do not recommend individual operators. We do not maintain affiliate links or advertising arrangements with any casino, wagering provider or affiliate portal. The site's operating costs are covered by the small research and consulting business behind it.

Who Rachel is

Rachel O'Connor is EP Info's Research Editor and the author of every page on this site. Rachel has been collecting and verifying the questions Australian consumers ask about digital regulation since 2018, initially as a freelance research contractor for consumer policy organisations and then in this dedicated Q&A role. Her background is in policy research and legal writing, and her editorial preference is short, concrete answers over marketing language.

She grew up in regional South Australia and moved to Adelaide for university, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts with a policy studies focus. Her working method is deliberately old-fashioned: read the statute, read the regulator's own guidance, read the case law, then write in the plainest English the question allows. If a section can be shorter, she cuts it.

Our editorial approach

Every page on EP Info follows the same discipline. The heading is a question a real reader has asked, in some cases many readers over the last few years. The answer opens with the direct response. Explanations sit under the direct response, not in front of it. Where the answer depends on the reader's own circumstances, we say so; where it does not, we do not hedge unnecessarily.

We update pages when the underlying regulatory or market position changes, not on a fixed schedule. The last updated date shown at the top of each money page reflects the last substantive edit, not a cosmetic pass. Where possible, we cite primary sources — legislation, regulator publications, case law — for factual claims, and we keep an internal change log for our own reference.

On our use of AI

Being direct with readers is a house rule, so this section is direct: EP Info uses AI tools as part of its editorial workflow. Draft outlines, research summaries, and first-pass structuring are frequently AI-assisted. Every published paragraph is reviewed, edited and re-worded by Rachel before publication, and factual claims are cross-checked against primary sources by a human, not by the AI.

Our position is that AI assistance in editorial work is neither disqualifying nor decorative. It is a research tool that reduces the time between "I want to answer this question" and "here is the researched draft to edit". The editorial responsibility for the final published text sits with the named human editor on each page. That is the only responsibility model we think holds together under scrutiny.

What EP Info is not

EP Info is not a gambling operator, an affiliate portal, or a marketing agency. We do not accept advertising or paid placement. We do not sell leads to operators. We do not maintain relationships with casino brands, and we do not receive payment from any casino or wagering provider for any content on this site.

We are also not a legal or financial advisory service. Where a reader's question touches specific legal or tax circumstances, we point them toward a suitably qualified adviser rather than pretending general-purpose Q&A content is a substitute for advice on their situation. Everything on the site is educational in nature.
